Painted in Margaret's impressionistic style, Satchmo stands center stage in the New Orleans French Quarter as he takes a bow to America as the country celebrates his contribution to Jazz.
French Quarter Festivals, Inc. is committed to its mission to showcase New Orleans
culture and heritage! Each year, we select one of New Orleans' world-class
visual artists to serve as the official poster artist for the French Quarter
Festival and Satchmo SummerFest. Consideration is given only to
local artists, and we seek out those who have demonstrated a
commitment to the City. The original paintings pay homage to our festival artists and the historic French Quarter.

Margaret Slade Kelley is celebrated and classically trained. Her rendition of New Orleans' native son Louis "Satchmo"
Armstrong was commissioned by the French Quarter Festival, Inc. for the Satchmo Festival held August 4, 2005.
This was to be the last music festival of New Orleans, Louisiana before the disaster of Hurricane Katrina on
August 29, 2005.
