Commissioned for the 2005 Satchmo Festival, Satchmo marked the final celebration before Hurricane Katrina. Louis Armstrong rises in radiant hues of gold, orange, and teal, taking a graceful bow in the heart of the historic French Quarter. Encircled by red and white stripes that echo the American flag, he accepts the enduring applause of a lifetime devoted to jazz.
