Old Algiers RiverFest

I love New Orleans. For the past seventeen years, I have spent much of my life painting about the city's rich culture and I am proud to be apart of its unique community. I am thrilled to be invited to do this piece for the 2010 RiverFest as part of its fund raising efforts to give to the community. The committee asked me to convey the history of old Algiers and to tell a story of its contribution to jazz, as we know it today. I thought about our ancestors and our lineage, the Gumbo, the mix and all that is uniquely New Orleans. To the locals, "The Holy Trinity, as in our religion, our food, our people, and our music all of these combined is the culture of New Orleans.
