Margaret Slade Kelley-an artist and Katrina Survivor--Last year Margaret suffered significant damage to her art studio as well as the destruction of many of her original paintings. Despite her personal loss, Margaret is using her artistic talents to make a difference by producing "Rise Again New Orleans." Margaret collaborated with her son Brandyn Slade Kelley to combine her art with a song Brandyn wrote. The art and music call for people to "put a face" on their giving to help rebuild the area. According to Margaret, the art is "A tribute to the New Orleans we love and the family and friends we miss." As a proud sponsor of the Essence "Women Who Are Shaping the World" Leadership Summit Chevrolet recognized the importance of women like Margaret, who are shaping our world. Margaret will share her personal story and will showcase the art she is producing to assist Katrina survivors. In addition, Chevrolet team members explained what Chevrolet is doing to support others in the region.
